autopr -
successfully promoting automotive and motorsport businesses
worldwide
Run by Robert Daines, an internationally published
automotive author, writer and pr professional, autopr
will get your business noticed by millions of automotive
enthusiasts worldwide at a fraction of the cost of
traditional advertising and promotion.
Public Relations for my company? No thanks, PR is all spin
and hype!
The stereotypical PR agencies do specialise in spin and hype
rather than substance. The typical PR
agency approach is to talk up the amount of coverage they
can get your company, take an inflated monthly fee, pass on
the campaign to a salaried 'account executive' (often fresh
from college with no real idea how the media works) and then
email out as many press releases to as many publications as
possible in the hope that some will 'stick.' This
way of doing business lets them bill you for the time and work of
the 'executive' but is not the best way to secure
productive media coverage for your company.
Public Relations in the real world.
autopr's approach is
different. Having been involved in the automotive world as a
writer for most of the major automotive media in the UK, America,
Australia and New Zealand for 24 years, autopr's
founder has an in-depth
knowledge of the exact requirements of each publication and
website. Consequently I do not need to bill for massive
press release runs as I tailor each client's releases and
press information to their required market. The result is
coverage that builds interest in your company, increases
sales and is highly cost effective.
Cutting through the PR jargon.
At autopr you will never come across the usual PR
jargon, which is heartily disliked by the press and clients.
autopr is not offering a "client-facing, multi-tasking,
cross-promotional, multi-media disciplined agency"; but
rather a firm that understands and can deliver, in plain
English, a pr campaign to get your automotive business
valuable publicity in a crowded marketplace.
PR exists to get your business noticed and noticed in a way
that builds up the image of your business and creates sales.
You want to see your company get positive coverage in as
many places as possible and the automotive media are always
looking for good stories that will interest their readers to
print. autopr puts the two together by creating media
information that will be well received and ultimately
broadcast or printed, not thrown into the bin or deleted
from the inbox with the other 500 press releases that have
arrived that day.
In short, autopr has been set up with one goal in
mind - to promote your automotive company to the widest
possible market at the best possible price. To learn how autopr can do just that
for you please get in touch with Robert Daines via our

Robert Daines:
Rob Daines, the founder of autopr, started
writing about automobiles in 1983. His first work
appeared in Street Machine and Hot Rod and Custom UK. He moved
to the United States in the late 1980's and took up
the post of Assistant Editor at British Car
magazine in California.
He continued to freelance for all the major US and UK
magazines during this time, building up an impressive
knowledge of each magazine's house style and editorial
requirements, as well as building an extensive list of
contacts within the automotive media.
Throughout his career he has promoted automotive
products and services for a wide range of clients,
both in the UK and the US, before making the decision
to sideline the writing and concentrate on full-time
automotive PR.
Robert is no stranger to all aspects of the automotive
business. He has owned and restored several classics,
ranging from a 1966 Ford Anglia (his first car), two
Rover P6s and one P4, through to a host of classic
American autos including a 1969 Firebird, 1965 Buick
Electra and a 1967 Cadillac Fleetwood. On two wheels
he has owned and restored classic Lambrettas and
Vespas.
When he was not restoring cars he was wrecking them,
having disposed of several Austin Cambridge/Morris
Oxford A60s during two years of banger racing. he
promises to right his days as a demo derby pro by
restoring an A60 just as soon as he can find the right
candidate. He is also planning a return to the track
in the Historic Stock Car formula.
Robert also sold cars, when he worked at Competition
Chevrolet in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles. The
'slap the fender let's make a deal buddy' world of
used and new cars was his stomping ground as he worked
the shop floor to gain hands on knowledge of the
business before running the PR campaign. So, if you
are looking for a good deal on a nice
1990s Chevrolet Celebrity ........
Rob is also the author of Edsel the Motor
Industry's Titanic, co-producer and script
writer of the Full Metal Mayhem racing
DVD and is a lifelong "car guy", a trait he appears to
have passed on to his daughter Zody who could name
cars at the age of 2½ and is showing worrying signs of
following Dad into a lifetime of gasoline addiction.
